ECOCLUB.com Ecotourism Awards 2009 -
Voting Now Open
Athens, Greece – 18 June 2009 The six finalists
of the 6th annual ECOCLUB.com Ecotourism Awards were announced earlier
this week. This year's theme is "Their Crisis, Our Communities -
progressive change through Social Ecotourism” and ECOCLUB’s aim was to
mobilise its Members around the world, tourism professionals, academics &
students to undertake innovative projects that help create ‘another world’
at the grass roots level and improve life for all in their communities.
Unlike most mainstream travel awards that reward past performance,
the ECOCLUB.com Ecotourism Awards fund and implement new projects. There
is no panel of judges, and the winners are decided in a direct democratic
fashion by all ECOCLUB Members. The six proposals and the
candidates are as follows (listed in the order received): A -
