1st International Conference on Climate Change and Tourism. The
impacts at tourism destinations and adaptation to the changing
conditions Djerba, Tunisia, April 9-11, 2003:
This is the first international
conference specifically addressing the relationships between tourism
and climate change. By convening this event, the World Tourism
Organization aims primarily at developing awareness among tourism
administrations, companies and other stakeholders about the climate
change issue and defining a preliminary agenda of action for further
research and the application of adaptive management techniques.
Update:
25 March 2003: WTO confirms that this event will proceed
as scheduled despite the current situation in Iraq. The decision was
taken after consultation with the Tunisian Government and
consideration of all safety measures. So far WTO have received
registrations from 40 different countries. Registration is still open

The Namche Conference, Nepal, May 24-26, 2003:
The Namche Conference, "People, Park, and Mountain
Ecotourism", will be the "highest" international symposium ever
held. The primary venue, Namche Bazar (3,450 m) is the
gateway village inside Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal. Prospective participants are urged to
